Tiraspol, February, 2. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. A scientific-practical seminar on oncology is being held at the medical faculty of the Pridnestrovian State University for the fourth time. The event takes place in view of the forthcoming World Day to Combat Cancer.

The training sessions discuss clinical, therapeutic, and organizational aspects of treatment. Among the lecturers are the currently active physicians and scientists from Moscow and Saint Petersburg.

The seminar is held online. Thanks to modern technologies, experts lead training sessions by video link and show the audience presentation of the report. And at the end of each presentation, participants can ask questions.

As the head oncologist of the Pridnestrovian Ministry of Health, Alina Andreeva, such sessions improve doctors` qualification level. At the same time, not only oncologists, but also cytologists, histologists, general practitioners, and surgeons attend the seminars.

“Reports from leading Russian specialists reveal all the details from diagnosis to treatment, including prevention and early detection. This is useful, especially for non-core doctors” - Alina Andreeva explained.

In the course of scientific and practical sessions, special attention was paid to the stomach, esophagus, head, neck and breast cancer.

According to statistics, breast cancer, lung cancer, skin cancer and intestinal cancer are most often diagnosed in the republic. The number of cancer patients reaches 18 thousand people, while new tumors are diagnosed every year, and 1800-1850 citizens are registered.

Medicine in Pridnestrovie allows surgical treatment and chemotherapy of cancer patients. And if it is necessary to conduct a course of radiation therapy, citizens are sent to the Oncology Institute of Moldova at the expense of the republican budget.

Experts say that a review of international experience and our own results can bring a new level of medicine in the republic. That is why the seminar included 10 topical and highly focused topics in oncology issues, which would be covered throughout the day.
