PRIDNESTROVIAN BOXERS BROUGHT THREE MEDALS FROM UKRAINE

Daniil Slepoy won the gold medal, Vasily Chebotar was recognized as the best boxer of the tournament

Tiraspol, January, 30. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. XIXth All-Ukrainian Open Tournament among young people in the memory of Yevgeny Kuzhelny was held in the city of Khmelnitsky. Yevgeny Kuzhelny was one of the first coaches in the Khmelnytsky Region, and did a lot for the development of this sport. Tournament was foreman: the winners of the competitions are traditionally awarded the Master of Sports of Ukraine.  

More than 90 boxers up to 19 years old from Ukraine and Moldova, including girls, stepped onto the mat. 

The Moldavian team included athletes from Tiraspol, Bendery, Hinceshty and Comrat. Tiraspol citizens managed to win 3 medals. 

Daniil Slepoy became the winner in the weight category up to 52 kg. He put up three victorious fights, including with the master of the ring. According to his mentor Anatoly Akhmadiev, Daniil Slepoy demonstrated competent and adult boxing.   

Vasily Chebotar (up to 60 kg) won the silver medal in an equal battle, losing to the first number of the youth national team of Ukraine in the final game. Vasily Chebotar and two more athletes from Vinnitsa and Khmelnitsky were recognized as the best boxers of the competition. Dmitry Spasov (up to 52 kg) won the bronze. 

“Daniil Slepoy and Vasily Chebotar are already experienced competitors and repeated prize-winners of European championships. After a break Daniil Slepoy is gaining his good form. Athletes are members of the youth team of Moldova. They are preparing for the next European Championship. The tournament will be held in Bulgaria in autumn”- Anatoly Akhmadiev told in an interview to our correspondent.     

6 more Pridnestrovian boxers took part in the tournament in Khmelnitsky, including one girl. Arthur Soloviev (up to 56 kg) managed to win the first fight. The rest lost in the starting fights. 

The best boxers of the competition were recognized Maxim Vlasyuk from Vinnitsa, Maxim Drach from Khmelnitsky and Vasily Chebotar from Moldova.
