THE LOWEST CRIME RATE FOR 16 YEARS IS REGISTERED IN PRIDNESTROVIE

Summarizing the outcome of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for 2018, the head of the department also noted an unprecedented criminal cases detection– 91 per cent

Tiraspol, January, 30. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Today, there was held a meeting of the Collegium of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, devoted to summarizing the outcome of the department over the past year. In addition to the heads of structural units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the meeting was attended by the President Vadim Krasnoselski, Deputy Prime Minister Stanislav Kasap, and heads of other authorities. 

Reporting on the activities carried out over the past year, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Ruslan Mova elaborated on all aspects of the activities of his department – starting with crime prevention and fight against crime, and finishing with the development of police sports.  

As noted in the report of the minister, last year the crime rate decreased by 12.4 per cent compared with 2017. In just one year, 3,949 crimes were committed, which, according to the head of the agency, is the lowest in 16 years. There were fewer crimes registered such as murder, robbery, theft, hooliganism, vehicle theft. At the same time, unprecedented detection of crimes was registered – 91 per cent. Among the solved crimes is the murder from 4 years ago.  

In his speech Ruslan Mova paid special attention to the fight against trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. 533 crimes were detected in this area, including 208 cases of illegal sale. Policemen had to face the developments of drug dealers. As a result of operational search activities, three Internet drug shops and a laboratory for the production of synthetic potions were eliminated. 

The fight against economic crimes was also successful. Over the last two years, the state was compensated for the damage of 69 million Pridnestrovian rubles, and there were also restrained the assets of defendants in criminal cases for an amount in excess of 56 million.   

Among the cases of this category in his report Ruslan Mova mentioned: non-payment of 8 million rubles in taxes by organizations that are part of the Tsyta Trade Alliance; damage of 15 million rubles (this amount was seized on the property) to the Ipotechniy bank; tax evasion by the management of Gaztop LLC (more than 3.6 million rubles in fines were returned to the budget).
