Tiraspol, January, 18. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The President of the PMR, Vadim Krasnoselski, cited the example of the “velvet divorce” of the Czech Republic and Slovakia in 1993 as a formula for solving the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian conflict.
According to the head of the republic, Tiraspol and Chisinau should continue a positive dialogue, as a result of which it will become clear that the only way to resolve the Moldova- Pridnestrovian conflict is international recognition of Pridnestrovie.
“In 1993 the issue of Czech Republic and Slovakia was actually resolved this way. And what prevents the two nations from living side by side now? Nothing! Therefore, the main thing is to preserve peace, which we are aiming at” - Vadim Krasnoselski said during a press approach following a meeting with the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia Miroslav Laychak.
During the meeting, the President of the PMR and the OSCE Chairman-in-Office exchanged views on the prospects for international negotiations on Pridnestrovie and Moldova relations settlement.
The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) along with Russia and Ukraine is one of the mediators in the negotiation process in the “5+2” format. The United States and the EU also take part in international negotiations as observers.
