PRIDNESTROVIE AND ABKHAZIA WILL DEVELOP CONTACTS

Promising avenues of cooperation between the two republics in 2019 were discussed at PMR Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Tiraspol, January, 16. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a meeting with the Head of the Department Vitaly Ignatiev and the Republic of Abkhazia Plenipotentiary in the PMR Alexander Vataman. During the meeting, diplomats discussed promising avenues of cooperation between the two republics for 2019.

The press service of the Foreign Ministry reports that Vitaly Ignatiev drew attention to the extremely positive experience of interaction with Apsny through the Representative Office of the Republic of Abkhazia in Pridnestrovie and expressed the hope that the formats of bilateral contacts will be expanding progressively. 

“We hope that our contacts will develop at the interdepartmental level and through international structures, including within the framework of the Community for Democracy and, if possible, the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs” - the Foreign Minister noted.

In turn, Alexander Vataman reminded that the meeting was traditionally held on the eve of the Pridnestrovian Representation in Abkhazia establishment anniversary - January 18, 2007 - and the signing of the first Friendship and Cooperation Treaty on January 22, 1993.

According to Alexander Vataman, today there are a number of initiatives to implement in the near future through youth structures and cooperation between the cities of the two countries.

In the development of the discussion, the interlocutors also discussed a number of other issues of mutual interest. In particular, Vitaly Ignatiev informed Alexander Vataman about plans to open Pridnestrovie representative office in the Russian Federation in the city of Moscow.
