PRIDNESTROVIE AND MOLDOVA PRESIDENTS MET IN ASCENSION NOVO-NAMETSKY MONASTERY

Bendery, December, 25. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Moldovan delegation headed by the President of Moldova Republic Igor Dodon arrived in Pridnestrovie. The press service of the PMR President reported, that guests were met by PMR Minister of Foreign Affairs Vitaly Ignatiev. 

The working dialogue of the parties was preceded by a visit to the Ascension Novo-Nametsky Monastery in the village of Kitskany. 

Igor Dodon and accompanying officials were greeted at the gates of the ancient Orthodox monastery by the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselski and Archimandrite Paisii, thirteenth abbot of the Kitskany monastery, who spent more than a quarter of a century in its holy walls, moving from novice to vicar.  

Father Paisii told the guests about the history of the monastery, founded in 1864. The participants of the meeting visited Uspensky temple, where services are being held during the winter period. They visited the Ascension Church and the Tomb. The interlocutors spoke about the Orthodox traditions, the fate of Ascension Novo-Nametsky Monastery, vividly illustrating the history of Orthodoxy, about the amazing architecture of the complex and shrines preserved there. At the end of the tour, the heads of state presented memorable gifts to Father Paisii as a sign of gratitude. 

Communication between representatives of Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova leadership will continue on the territory of Alexander Nevsky Park of the Bendery Fortress. The official part of the meeting between Vadim Krasnoselski and Igor Dodon will be held in Bendery state administration.
