Japanese scientist and researcher Kimitaka Matsuzato visits Pridnestrovie again

The foreign guest has noted positive developments in the country

Tiraspol, 16 August. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Foreign minister Vitaly Ignatiev met Japanese professor, director of the Center for Slavic Studies at the University of Hokkaido, Kimitaka Matsuzato.

The scientist has repeatedly visited the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and is familiar with the process of settling relations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova, the MFA's press service recalls. The Japanese scientist studies the settlement of conflicts in the post-Soviet space.

Vitaly Ignatiev told the Japanese guest about the current situation in the negotiation process, Pridnestrovie's initiatives contributing to a positive dynamic in the dialogue and aimed at solving an array of social, economic and humanitarian problems. The minister noted significant progress in attracting foreign investments in Pridnestrovie, in particular, through a law on state support of investment activities which has been adopted this year and also spoke about priority directions for the development of the Pridnestrovian state.

Special attention was given to the historical, legal and political grounds for the independence of Pridnestrovie. In this context, Vitaly Ignatiev presented Kimitaka Matsuzato the book "Political and legal basis for the international recognition of the independence of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic", which includes an expert opinion of international lawyers and a set of documents used in scientific and expert work.

The interlocutors agreed to continue the dialogue at the expert level, including possible interaction at international venues.

Kimitaka Matsuzato thanked Vitali Ignatiev for in-depth communication, noting the positive changes that occurred in the country since his last visit in 2012.
