Tiraspol, 23 July. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Ministry of Economic Development of the PMR has published a report on the performance of the industrial sector in the first half of 2018. According to 6-month statistics, the volume of industrial production grew by 42% (in US dollar terms) compared with the same period in 2017.
The best growth rate is still shown by the metallurgical industry. Here, the volume of production increased by 2.5 times. The production volume in the electric power sector increased by almost 30%; in the chemical industry, by 23.9%; in the machine building sector, by 9.1%; in the construction sector, by about 20%, and the woodworking industry grew by 1.5 times.
The light industry, on contrary, showed a 5% decline. The production volume also decreased in the food industry by 4.5%, in the printing industry by 13.5% and in the milling industry by 22.4%.
