Bender, 17 July. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The history of St Alexander Nevsky's Church is described in the book "The Guardian of the Bendery Fortress". It is written by its rector, Protopriest Anatoly Kalmyk. The book, published with the support of the Dniester-Prut Information and Analytical Center and the Society for the Development of Russian Historical Education "Two-Headed Eagle", was presented as part of a memorable event on the territory of the Bendery Fortress, the presidential press service reports.
Its initial circulation is 300 copies. The book's 238 pages of data were collected by crumbs in the archives of Russia, Moldova and Pridnestrovie. The materials were provided by the Tiraspol-Dubossary Diocese, Pridnestrovie's Interior Ministry and the enterprise "Bendery Fortress". In total, the authors indicated 93 sources.
The colourfully illustrated book describes in detail the various milestones in the history of one of the oldest temples of the Pridnestrovian land, under the arches of which both ordinary Bendery residents and royalties, who played a prominent role in the history of Russia.
The authors and those who made a special contribution to the preservation and development of the spiritual and moral traditions of Pridnestrovie were awarded medals and honorary titles. The awards were handed personally by the Pridnestrovian president.
Archbishop of Tiraspol and Dubossary Savva called this assessment of the charitable activities an advance, which requires an even more zealous service. The archbishop, in turn, presented to the president a St Tikhon Medal. According to him, Patriarch Kirill has instructed the clergy to reward the most decent people in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the restoration of the Patriarchate in the Russian Orthodox Church.
