Tiraspol, 8 June. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Tiraspol's Palace of the Republic was the host of a unique exhibition of football club badges and special cancellation of postage stamps. Both events were dedicated to World Cup 2018 and the 80th anniversary of football in Tiraspol. They were held under the patronage of public and social organisations of Pridnestrovie.
A new series of postage stamps was issued with a circulation of 4,800 copies. These are art stamps, whose design was performed by Bendery's Boris Ogli.
"We could not miss this event, so we tried to release such a bright, memorable series. All the stamps are drawn in color pencil - the artist has done a great job. Symbolic episodes of football fight are depicted. And by the way, our stamps will have been taken to Moscow by the start of the championship, I'll take them and present them to Russian collectors," said the director of GUP Pridnestrovian Stamp, Vsevolod Lavrentyev.
The publishers predict that this series will become as popular a "space series".
However, another surprise had been awaiting football fans today - a collection of badges of football clubs of the USSR, Russia and the world.
It has been collected by Anatoly Lobkin. It was the first time the owner of the largest collection of the kind - 3,500 pieces - introduced it to the general public.
"It has taken me over 20 years to collect badges of football clubs of the former USSR, of all 15 republics - 98% of all the badges that were issued. Of all my collections, this one is the most numerous and favourite. I became a keen collector in the 1950s. - Is it difficult to find badges? - In general, yes, I specially go to Moscow, Tyumen, Sverdlovsk, Odessa all the time," he said.
All football fans who came to the exhibition had the opportunity to evaluate each badge, as well as the new series of stamp. Among the visitors were the younger generation (trainees of the Football Academy "Sheriff", Tiraspol SDYUSHOR-1, members of city and regional teams) and football players and famed coaches and inveterate football fans.
"The whole planet froze silent in anticipation of the holiday - the opening of the World Cup. Today, football is not just a game - it's emotions, a huge industry, and at the same time, it is accessible, comprehensible and a democratic kind of sport we are madly in love with, as are billions of people. Tiraspol football is known for its famed players, glorious history and contribution to world football," said the president of the Football Federation of Pridnestrovie, Pavel Prokudin.
