Vitaly Ignatyev meets Abkhazian president

The interlocutors discussed the expansion of the strategic interaction of Pridnestrovie and Abkhazia in various areas

Tiraspol, 17 May. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Abkhazian President Raul Khadzimba has held a meeting today with Pridnestrovian foreign minister Vitaly Ignatyev, the MFA's press service reports.

The Pridnestrovian minister highly appreciated a cordial welcome and emphasised the special nature of the current visit, which enabled him to take part in the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Abkhaz foreign ministry.

According to Vitaly Ignatyev, the established friendly ties between the foreign ministries of the countries are a reflection of the fraternal nature of the relations between Pridnestrovie and Abkhazia as states bound by a common historical destiny and unity of goals and aspirations.

Raul Khadzhimba, in turn, expressed his gratitude to Vitaly Ignatyev for the high level of representation of Pridnestrovie during the visit and the personal participation of the foreign minister in the events dedicated to the anniversary of the Abkhaz foreign ministry.

The interlocutors discussed issues related to the expansion of strategic cooperation between the two countries in various areas. The parties positively assessed today's exchange of ratifications of the Agreement of Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between Abkhazia and Pridnestrovie, stressing that the updated document is an important milestone in the development of a multi-level partnership between the two states.

Special attention was given to the prospects and areas for intensifying joint efforts within the organisation "For Democracy and the Rights of Peoples". It was noted that the mechanisms of interaction existing within the organisation remain relevant and have considerable practical potential.
