Tiraspol, 4 April. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Development of trade and economic contacts, tourism and the negotiation process. These and other topics were discussed at a meeting of Pridnestrovian President Vadim Krasnoselsky with Hungarian Ambassador to Moldova Sandor Szabo.
Further development of contacts
The ambassador noted that he supports the further development of contacts primarily in the trade and economic sphere. According to Sandor Szabo, the potential for cooperation in this area is not sufficiently disclosed. In particular, the Hungarian diplomat noted the relatively low volume of Hungarian investments and the small quantity of Hungary products exported to the Pridnestrovian market. With mutual interest and consolidation of efforts, the current state of things can be changed, Szabo believes.
Vadim Krasnoselsky confirmed that Pridnestrovie and Hungary should develop trade and economic contacts, drawing attention to this year's growth in trade turnover, which has exceeded $1 million. In particular, exports of Pridnestrovian goods to Hungary have doubled. The president, recalling that the country maintains trade relations with 92 countries, stressed that Pridnestrovie is interested in each economic partner and seeks to establish and strengthen new relationships.
‘We want to be closer’
Another aspect that the interlocutors paid attention to is tourism. Pridnestrovie deserves the attention of foreign tourists, they believe. Among the measures that could contribute to the activation of tourist contacts between Hungary and Pridnestrovie, Sandor Szabo assigns a significant role to the resumption of direct flights "Budapest-Chisinau".
"Speaking to the Hungarian tourists visiting Chisinau, I found out that each of them wants to come to Pridnestrovie. This region is interesting for them," said the diplomat. "We want to be closer. To convey this message is the goal of my today's visit," he added.
The position of Hungary in the negotiation process
The interlocutors paid special attention to the discussion of the negotiation process with Moldova. Sandor Szabo noted that Hungary's position was to support initiatives aimed to improve people's quality of life. The diplomat noted the optimistic attitude ahead of a "5+2" meeting in May, which was announced by the special representative of the OSCE chairman-in-office, Franco Frattini.
"It is important for this region of Europe to be calm, peaceful, stable," said the ambassador.
The sides also discussed some details of the negotiation process, its results and prospects, and outlined plans for further Pridnestrovie-Hungary cooperation, reaffirming mutual interest in its strengthening and intensification, the president's press service reports.
