Situation in Pridnestrovie discussed in the Federation Council

"Russia sees how strong the pressure on Pridnestrovie is," the Chairman of the Council of the Federation Committee for Foreign Affairs Konstantin Kosachev says.

Tiraspol, January 22. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Chairman of the Council of the Federation Committee for Foreign Affairs Konstantin Kosachev noted that Russia saw how strong the pressure on Pridnestrovie was, and that the relations with Ukraine and Moldova became complicated. Senator told it at the meeting with the Pridnestrovie's President Vadim Krasnoselsky. The head of the Pridnestrovie's MFA Vitaly Ignatyev also participated in the conversation, Vmeste-RF TV channel of the Federation Council reports.

Inter-parliamentary contacts

The sides discussed a wide range of the issues connected with the prospects for the development of practical interaction between Pridnestrovie and the Russian Federation. It was talked about the importance of economic and parliamentary contacts.

"Parliamentary contacts are useful and can promote development of the relations in other areas," Konstantin Kosachev emphasized. According to him, exchange of opinions and bilateral coordination are comprehensive.

Konstantin Kosachev noted that Russia monitored the situation in the region. Specifically, senator noted an upward trend in the economic development of the republic, including the foreign trade volume increase.

International dialogue

Vadim Krasnoselsky informed the Russian MP on the results of last year in details and emphasized progress in the foreign policy and economic directions.

The Pridnestrovie's president noted that the work had been done in the difficult external conditions, however Pridnestrovie had developed different forms of the international dialogue, including the work at the level of negotiation process. At the same time, the authorities of the republic were guided by the peaceful aspirations, used balanced approaches and offered pragmatic and mutually acceptable solutions aimed to improve social and economic living conditions of people.

The head of Pridnestrovie noted that the massive political and diplomatic work had been carried out at various international venues, including the European Parliament and the PACE which purpose is to inform of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic objectively.

"Pridnestrovie has been a de facto independent state for a long time, and a key task is laying the groundwork for the international recognition of the country today," Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized.

The head of the Pridnestrovian state hoped that cooperation with the Russian side would provide new platforms for the representatives of the republic so that they could show a true picture of the situation around the PMR.

The sides also discussed the perspective of joint customs border control of Moldova and Ukraine on the Pridnestrovian-Ukrainian border. It was noted that such politically motivated measures were imposed regardless of the Pridnestrovie's position and in disregard for previously signed agreements within the negotiation process, and they create additional tension at the regional level.

Support to reforms

During the meeting, the discussion was also specially focused on the situation in the economic sphere. Voicing the indicators of output growth and trade volumes of Pridnestrovie, the president noted that tax optimization, mobilization of internal resources and industrial capabilities of the country provided achievement of certain results against the difficult conditions. The sides agreed that any reforms in the financial and economic spheres need the appropriate support.

During the conversation, attention was paid to the protection of the rights and freedoms of the citizens of the Russian Federation and the compatriots residing in the republic. The important role of the social and humanitarian projects implemented by Russia in Pridnestrovie was pointed out in this context.

The participants of the meeting agreed to support comprehensive working contacts in all relevant interaction areas, the Press Service of the Pridnestrovie's President reports.
