If Russian peacekeepers leave Pridnestrovie, NATO troops will come there, Russia's Federal Council member Alexey Pushkov said in an interview with Izvestia, commenting on the Moldovan government's loyalty to NATO.
"Kishinev is seeking the withdrawal of Russian troops from Pridnestrovie 'for the sake of the peace process'. And when we leave, NATO forces will come. It is clear as noonday," Pushkov noted on Twitter.
Earlier, the Constitutional Court of Moldova equated the Russian peacekeepers in the region with occupying forces. The Moldovan government appealed to the UN with a request to discuss the "complete withdrawal" of the Russian peacekeeping forces and OGRF.
