Tiraspol, 27 November. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The minister of foreign affairs, Vitaly Ignatyev, said, commenting on the work of the international roundtable conference "The political and legal grounds for international recognition of Pridnestrovie", which was held in Moscow last week, that had not been a political but purely scientific event. The minister noted the high level of the international lawyers who had prepared the expert opinion.

"The work had been carried out in advance by a working group. That team had worked out its opinion based on the factual matter Pridnestrovie has in terms of historical and legal grounds for independence. We know there was an expert opinion by a group of American experts and by a group of French and Ukrainian lawyers. In fact, we have brought a certain result, accumulated the international legal grounds that allow us to say that in terms of international law Pridnestrovie has every reason to be recognised by the international community," the minister said on the First Pridnestrovian TV channel.

Speaking about the experts' conclusions, he stressed that it was an axiom, and Pridnestrovie's task was to make its international partners accept it.

The international roundtable conference "The political and legal grounds for international recognition of Pridnestrovie" was held at the Federal Chamber of Lawyers in Moscow. Representatives of the Russian and Pridnestrovian authorities, lawyers, historians, political scientists and public figures took part in the international discussion. The conference participants analysed the legal documents, historical context, international and regional situation and expressed the common opinion on the phenomenon of the Pridnestrovian statehood.

"We are an organic and integral part of it. And the fact that we have concluded an agreement with a leading university not only in Russia but also in the world shows that PSU and Pridnestrovie will gain additional opportunities and practical resources to develop the education system," concluded Ignatyev.
