Pridnestrovian delegation takes part in State Duma hearings

The topic of discussion was the need for strategic planning for the development of education in Russia

Tiraspol, 24 November. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Russia's State Duma discusses strategic planning for the development of education. The hearings were attended by head of the Supreme Council committee on education, science and culture Mikhail Burla and minister of education Tatyana Loginova and PSU rector Stepan Beril.

The hearings were organised by the State Duma committee on education and science, headed by Vyacheslav Nikonov, the Supreme Council's press service reports.

The country's international competitiveness will depend on how well the educational and scientific systems will adapt to the new realities, Nikonov said, opening the event.

"It is high time we seriously talked about the strategy for the development of education, the strategy for the development of historical science in our country, the teaching of history and, in general, the historical knowledge.  This issue is even more relevant since a law on strategic planning was adopted. There are a variety of strategies, but there is no strategy for the development of education," said Nikonov.

According to him, there is still no planning in some educational spheres in Russia, such as pre-school education, continuing education, education for elderly people.

Education spending in Russia, as well as in our country, is the largest expenditure item in the federal budget.

"The consolidated budget for education amounts to 3.2 trillion roubles this year. In accordance with the amendments that have been adopted, this figure will rise and reach 3.8 trillion roubles in 2020," noted the Russian MP.

Nikonov also said that no sphere was changing so quickly as the education sphere. The situation in the labour market was changing dramatically with the development of new knowledge and new technologies. It was predicted that a number of professions would disappear in the coming years. It was necessary to start training specialists who would work in the economy of the future and respond to the challenges facing the country.

In this respect, there is still much to learn for Pridnestrovie. Our country is integrated into Russia's educational space, and our schools employ Russian curriculums and standards. The development of contacts with Russia in the field of education is no less important for Pridnestrovie that in the economic spheres.
