Tiraspol, 24 November. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Vadim Krasnoselsky discussed with the head of the EU delegation to Moldova, Peter Michalko, progress in the negotiating process between Pridnestrovie and Moldova. They also talked about bilateral cooperation between the PMR and the EU, the president's press service reports.
"We'd like to address some practical challenges, exchange views, listen to your recommendations, advice, learn about your vision of the interaction between Pridnestrovie and the European Union. Pridnestrovie is going to maintain its contacts with the EU, in particular, trade ones," said Krasnoselsky. He underscored that the country's leadership heeded the recommendations of EU experts and analysed their practical use, taking into account the country's specificity.
Peter Michalko said he was pleased with the practical functioning of the optimal trade regime between Pridnestrovie and the EU.
"It can be said today that this cooperation provides additional opportunities and brings real benefits to Pridnestrovie's economy as economic agents have access to the European market, which we hope will only expand," said Michalko.
Speaking about the negotiating process, the interlocutors stressed the need to intensify it. The parties also discussed the issues to be raised during a Vienna meeting in the "5+2" format.
The EU ambassador noted that "the international community is watching with great attention the development of the dialogue" and condemned the opening of the bridge across the Dniester, recalling that its reconstruction had been carried out, including at the expanse of the EU. He assured the president that the EU would continue to take an active part in the "Permanent Conference...", taking steps to strengthen the dialogue between Pridnestrovie and Moldova and improving the living standards in both regions.
It is not Peter Michalko's first time in Pridnestrovie, but it is the first visit in his new status. In September 2017, he replaced Pirkka Tapiola as head of the EU delegation to Moldova.
