PSU rector meets Czech ambassador

Stepan Beril and Zdenek Krejci discussed the university's work, as well as the recognition of Pridnestrovian diplomas in other countries

Tiraspol, 16 November. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Czech ambassador to Moldova, Zdenek Krejci, visited yesterday Shevchenko Pridnestrovian State University (PSU) and met its rector, Professor Stepan Beril, who spoke about the history and aims of the university. According to the rector, today PSU is the biggest scientific centre, which interacts with many of the world's educational systems.

"But we associate ourselves with the Russian educational system, of which we are a part. It is very sad that we don't have the opportunity to interact with the Moldovan side as there is no response from the Moldovan authorities. On our part, we are always ready to cooperate," noted Beril.

Besides, Beril told the guest that PSU worked within the framework of the Bologna system, which has been adopted by the Russian educational system, and about seven cultural centres functioning in the university, PSU's press centre reports.

"We remain a real multi-ethnic university. There is a democratic atmosphere. Our students have a choice, and many of them at the same time study abroad,” explained the rector.

The ambassador wanted to know about the recognition of Pridnestrovian university diplomas. The rector explained that PSU-issued diplomas were recognised in Russia as PSU had been certified by the dedicated Russian educational agency and had been granted a certificate of state accreditation as a university employing modern Russian methods and technologies of training.

The Czech ambassador thanked the rector for the reception and conversation, after which he held a meeting with university students.
