Tiraspol, 14 November. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Russian National Library will host the annual meeting of the heads of Russian federal and regional libraries. The meeting will also be attended by representatives of the Pridnestrovian library community and the State Agency for Culture and Historical Heritage, the agency's press service reports.
Representatives of the Donetsk People's Republic, Luhansk People's Republic, Abkhazia, South Ossetia and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic are also invited to take part in the meeting.
The meeting will include a roundtable discussion on the problems and prospects of libraries in self-proclaimed states in the ex-USSR and their cooperation with the library community of the Russian Federation.
"The Pridnestrovian delegation will present a report on the current status of the public libraries in the country. The delegates will also take part in discussing the interaction between libraries of self-proclaimed states with the Russian National Library and other Russian libraries in terms of the purchase and preservation of books, bibliographic activities and the creation of electronic resources," says the communique.
The meeting is organised by Russia's ministry of culture, Russian National and Russian State Libraries. The meeting is part of the federal target programme Russian Culture for 2017 and will be held in the framework of the 6th St Petersburg International Cultural Forum.
