SCC leadership visits Russian Customs Academy

Their visit marked the 10th anniversary of bilateral cooperation

Tiraspol, 1 Novemeber. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. This year marks 10 years of cooperation between Pridnestrovie's State Customs Committee (SCC) and the Russian Customs Academy. Given this anniversary, the SCC delegation had planned to visit the academy during its working visit to Moscow.

The SCC officials held a meeting with the academy's leadership. The head of the SCC, Vitaly Nyagu, thanked them on behalf of the Pridnestrovian leadership, the SCC and the parents of the academy students for assistance in training highly qualified specialists for the country's customs authorities and for the attention given to the Pridnestorivan students.

The parties exchanged views on some results of the 10-year cooperation and outlined the prospects of strengthening it. It was noted that 39 SCC employees had graduated from the academy, the SCC's press service reports.

Today, 64 Pridnestrovians study at the academy and its branches on the quotas allocated to the SCC.

The academy's vice rector on international relations, Andrey Klochko, told the guests that the Pridnestrovian students did well in studies, showing a high level of basic training, and take an active part in the academy's social life. "The names of many Pridnestrovian students are on the board of honour," said Klochko.

The SCC officials got acquainted with the academy's educational facilities, visited its museum, centre of customs control, library and information centre and a number of departments, including the distance learning and situational analysis centres.

The first deputy chairman of the SCC, Alexey Lipovtsev, said the committee was interested in Pridnestrovian customs officers taking part in academic conferences, even remotely. This, according to him, would help Pridnestrovian specialists to gain valuable international experience in the customs sphere and take new steps towards the introduction of advanced information technologies.

The idea expressed during the meeting in the academy came true three days after at the 9th International Scientific and Practical Conference, in which Pridnestrovian customs officers took part via the Internet. The conference was held at the academy's headquarters in Liubertsy and was dedicated to the topical problems of customs development in the context of contemporary global changes.

Thanks to the teleconference with Tiraspol, the head of the Pridnestrovian customs took the floor to welcome its participants.

Both distinguished scholars in the field of customs studies and practising professionals from abroad made reports at the conference.  SCC specialists in Tiraspol, among whom were many RCA graduates, were especially interested in their views on solving customs issues.
