The situation around Pridnestrovie is tense and can dissolve into an armed conflict in the nearest future, and as a possible result the republic can be annexed by Ukraine or Moldova. An ultimate goal of this subterfuge of the West is involving of Russia into a full-scale war in Europe, so it requires immediate steps by the Kremlin.
If this occurs, according to the famous political expert, the director of the International institute of the Newly Established States Alexey Martynov, two possible scenarios put Moscow in the losing position, and make hope that the Russian authorities have a third saving plan.
Pridnestrovie in a pickle between Moldova and Ukraine
In an interview to the New Day RIA Martynov emphasized that a possible indirect defrosting of the conflict is confirmed by several factors at once.
According to him, the last several weeks Ukraine arrays air defense units and surface-to-air missile systems along the Pridnestrovie’s border in Odessa Oblast.
«At the same time, an emergency training for armed encounters of the Moldovan special forces with active participation of the American advisers takes place on the proving ground of the Moldovan Defense Ministry in Bulboaca located near the state border. Full-scale models of the Bendery streets are under construction on the ground," the expert emphasized.
Martynov also noted that a tender for the Moldovan construction companies capable to build such models was on the open on the Pentagon website.
«This tender was several months ago and it is fair to assume that these models are standing full size now, and the trainings of the Moldovan special forces are actively run there," the expert added.
According to him, such facts disturb and they are very similar to the nine year old events of the Georgian aggression in South Ossetia on August 8, 2008. «I hope that we will avoid it. But all these provocations, including that one with the Russian Deputy Prime Minister (Dmitry Rogozin was barred from visiting Pridnestrovie and declared persona non grata in Moldova), obviously fit into this logic," the expert considers.
The purpose of the USA is to involve Russia into a 'long armed conflict in the center of Europe'.
The main aim of such actions, according to Martynov, is not only annexation of the territory of Pridnestrovie, but also a strike against Russia.
«Political changes in the USA, the new president who continues to be at war with entire establishment haven't changed the global strategy of Washington against Moscow. And today the issue of involving of Russia in a long armed conflict in the center of Europe hasn't been removed from the agenda," Martynov is sure.
In his view, warming of the relations between Europe and Russia which is observed in the last several months causes concerns and strong discontent in Washington.
«Europe has suddenly begun to understand what is done with it and what will be done with it very soon. Today, it is disposed for a direct dialogue with Russia; at least it concerns the bilateral relations with the leading European countries. War in the center of Europe with direct participation of Russia will be the best opportunity to break this warming in the harshest possible way," the political expert considers.
Also, he added that Russian military facilities in Pridnestrovie would become one of the main possible targets in case of a conflict defrosting.
Martynov is sure that 'an ultimate owner of Moldova', the oligarch Vlad Plakhotnyuk in order 'to prolong his existence and to keep the status quo in the country' will be ready to provide a site for actions for Washington.
«He (Plakhotnyuk) is ready to defrost the Pridnestrovian conflict, obviously, honeying up to the American friends," the expert believes.
Deterrence of Plakhotnyuk from 'military affairs' will be the best outcome of the becoming tense events, according to Martynov.
«How exactly it will be possible — we don't know now. But I think that certain competent services are working on this issue," the expert told.
However, he emphasized that not to resolve that issue and 'to freeze and postpone it endlessly' means to set yourself up for 'more drastic and unpopular measures for the problem resolution in the future'.
«There are nearly 250 thousand Russian citizens. There is the Russian military property, a lot of different Russian property and property of the Russian corporations. I cannot see simple solutions of this issue, but for the first time in 25 years of the peacekeeping operation the threat is so big: the communication with Pridnestrovie is complicated and even Deputy Prime Ministers of the Russian Federation are barred and declared persona non grata," he noted.
