Tiraspol, 29 June. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. In connection with the requests of Pridnestrovian citizens travelling abroad from Kishinev Airport, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR has released a statement.

Previously, the MFA reported that in connection with numerous attempts to bring administrative penalties against Pridnestrovian citizens «for violation of the rules of staying in Moldova», Pridnestrovie had initiated numerous talks which resulted in Moldova making relevant amendments to its legislation in October 2013.

«Under the new provisions, citizens who do not have Moldovan documents but permanently live in Pridnestrovie are not subject to any penalties for violation of the rules of staying in Moldova," the MFA's website notes.

In order to secure the decision taken by Moldova at the international level and avoid administrative sanctions being applied against Pridnestrovians in the future, in February 2014 the parties, with the involvement of Russia, Ukraine and the OSCE, signed the protocol resolution «On certain aspects of freedom of movement», the ministry recalls.

In accordance with this resolution, people who can prove they are inhabitants of Pridnestrovie as well as those with passports of foreign citizens with a note of a consular registration from an embassy accredited to Moldova are not subject to penalties. In addition, any Pridnestrovian citizen may write, under personal responsibility, a statement confirming that he resides in Pridnestrovie and produce documentary evidence.

«Taking into account the ungrounded requirements of the Moldovan side, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR calls on citizens to resist the provocations and arbitrariness of the Moldovan border services in Kishinev Airport. The foreign ministry will continue to protect the fundamental rights and interests of Pridnestrovian residents with the involvement of the whole range of available international instruments," reads the statement.
