SunStroke Project qualifies for Eurovision 2017 finals

The group performed a rousing "Hey mamma" song at Europe's main song contest

Tiraspol, 10 May. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Natives of Tiraspol Sergey Stepanov and Anton Ragoza — members of the SunStroke Project trio — have qualified for the finals of the most prestigious European song contest. The first semi-final took place on 9 May in Ukraine's Kiev.

It featured 18 participants, but only the first ten went to the finals.

As the group's saxophonist Sergey Stepanov said, everything was at a high level. «There were a lot of rehearsals and run-throughs which fully prepared us," said the musician, adding that being on the stage they were transmitting the same emotions to the audience that they were experiencing during the performance.

The feature of the song was an instant reincarnation of three background singers. At the beginning, the girls acted as bridesmaids and then became brides themselves. «This was made possible by specially-designed dresses that were easily turned into bridal gowns," explained Sergey Stepanov.

He also said that the main task before the group had been to return to the Eurovision finals. «And we've done it! We hope SunStroke Project will not only make the final of Europe's main song contest more colourful and brighter but also bring us closer to victory!»

The second semi-final will take place on 11 May. In the final on 13 May, our countrymen will have to compete against the contest's favourites.
