Tiraspol, 11 April. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Yesterday, Ukraine disconnected both high-voltage lines feeding Moldovan Steel Works (MMZ), the minister of industry and regional development, Nikolay Gliga, told Novosti Pridnestrovya.
«On 9 April, at about 10:30, a Moldelectrica dispatcher sent a telephone message that under a request of Ukrenergo's dispatcher it was suggested to conduct the maintenance work of two 330-kilovolt power lines going from [Ukraine's] Podolsk substation to Rybnitsa. These two lines are mainly designed to feed MMZ during the melting mode," said the minister. According to Nikolay Gliga, such a situation is exceptional as both lines have never been turned off at the same time.
In connection with power outages, MMZ has passed on from the melting to rolling mode. According to the information available to the Ministry of Industry and Regional Development, both lines are to be put into operation today: one at 14:00 and another at 15:30.
Upon the resumption of power supply, a decision will be made on putting the plant into the melting mode. According to Nikolay Gliga, while the high-voltage lines are disconnected, GUP Dnestrenergo will also carry out repair works at its substations and line facilities to increase the reliability of the electricity supply.
