Pridnestrovie's Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatyev answers questions of Romanian media

The perspective of negotiations between Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova became the focus of interest of mass media representatives

Tiraspol, March 30. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatyev met with the delegation of researchers from the Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu and also with a group of Romanian journalists including the representatives of Digi 24 and TVR Moldova TV channels, the Romania Libera newspaper, Radio Chisinau and other media in the MFA. The perspective of negotiations between Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova became the focus of journalists' interest, the Pridnestrovie's Foreign Ministry's Press Service reports.

Vitaly Ignatyev told about the current situation in the dialogue between Pridnestrovie and the RM in detail and made a special focused on a wide range of unresolved problems in the sides' relationship, which includes the issues concerning economy, education, movement freedom of citizens and vehicles, politically motivated criminal prosecution against the citizens of the PMR. According to the diplomat, there are no objective obstacles preventing settlement of these problematic issues today.

«On the negotiating table, there are compromise drafts agreements elaborated by the Pridnestrovie's side including recommendations of the European experts on the automobile transport, apostilization of diplomas, on the politically motivated criminal cases. We are not lacking readiness to work, but the Republic of Moldova doesn't have enough political will to conduct a constructive dialogue with Pridnestrovie which is expressed, including, in politicization of any, even humanitarian issues» — the Foreign Minister noted.

During the conversation, Vitaly Ignatyev particularly focused on the intentions of Moldova and Ukraine to establish joint customs border control on the Pridnestrovian-Ukrainian border unilaterally, ignoring the position and the interests of Pridnestrovie. The Foreign Minister of the PMR stated that those plans were extremely destructive and they threatened with huge losses to the PMR in terms of trade, individual business, movement freedom of people and vehicles and economy of the republic in general. According to the diplomat, establishment of the joint control can also seriously aggravate the situation in the context of security due to the close proximity of Pridnestrovie's and Moldova's law enforcement authorities from each other, outside of the regulated by the existing agreements Security Zone.

«All arguments for establishment of the joint control provided to us do not stand up to any criticism. There is only one task, it is exclusively political, and it is just the Moldova's desire to establish actual control on the borders of Pridnestrovie from the West, as well asfrom the East. It is a very serious challenge, because nobody will benefit from this destructive measure. Everyone will lose and, first of all, simple people. That's why Pridnestrovie insists on inadmissibility of implementation of the joint control," Vitaly Ignatyev summarized.
