Tiraspol, 14 March. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Igor Dodon wants to meet President Vadim Krasnoselsky this month. The Moldovan president told about it after his meeting with Russia's deputy foreign minister Grigory Karasin.
«We have seen some positive results after the meeting with Vadim Krasnoselsky in early January. Another meeting with the left-bank leader is likely to take place in March. I hope it will be held in Kishinev," the Moldovan media quote Dodon as saying.
The last meeting of the leaders took place in Bendery on 4 January. Back then the sides particularly agreed to solve important economic, social and humanitarian issues «affecting the livelihoods of ordinary citizens.»
Meanwhile, as is evident from today's meeting of the political representatives, Moldovan authorities are reluctant to solve pressing problems. According to Vitaly Ignatyev, there is no progress on the aspects enshrined in the Berlin Protocol. This includes both politically motivated criminal charges and the problem of motorcar and railway traffic.
Against this background, the Moldovan partners do not cease groping for new pain spots and creating new obstacles for the Pridnestrovian economy. In particular, as a result of the February agreements reached by Moldova's prime minister Pavel Filip with the Ukrainian leadership on the establishment of a joint checkpoint, the country may lose tens of millions of US dollars.
«We believe these plans are extremely destructive. I, as a political representative, have called on every participant of this meeting to prevent the implementation of these plans which may lead to severe economic costs, including in the sphere of logistics, freedom of movement for both vehicles and people, problems of regional security," said Ignatyev after the meeting.
However, Kishinev does not heed to or simply does not want to heed to Pridnestrovie's arguments and position. Moldova's chief negotiator Gheorghe Balan said that at the joint Moldo-Ukrainian checkpoint Moldovan customs officers «will combat smuggling, and that ordinary citizens my suffer damage is no more than speculation.»
