Tiraspol, 13 March. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. President of Abkhazia Raul Khadzhimba received the delegation of international observers from Pridnestrovie, the website of Pridnestrovie's representative office in Abkhazia reports.
The president thanked the observers for their visit to Abkhazia and for their work during the parliamentary election. Raul Khadzhimba underscored that the election had been held calmly and peacefully and without major incidents. He added there would be a second round of voting in many constituencies, and in one of them re-election would be held.
«Thank you for participation in this election, and I believe our relations will be developed as before. It is very important for us, and I am sure it will certainly be so," said the president.
The chairwoman of the Central Election Commission of the PMR, Yelena Gorodetskaya, thanked the president for the opportunity to monitor Abkhazia's parliamentary election, saying it was a responsible and pleasant mission.
«All conditions had been created to enable all voters to freely express their will. And [there also was] the atmosphere of benevolence, we talked to both candidates and their observers and ordinary voters — all of them were expressing amicability. This is a major success, which is not always achieved," said Yelena Gorodetskaya.
Gorodetskaya said that their delegation had visited 20 polling stations and appreciated the past election, all international election standards and the country's legislation.
«The election was open and transparent, without any pressure or attempts to manipulate the voters' will. The fact that a second round of voting will be held is due to solely objective circumstances stipulated in national legislation and the result of the specific processes that took place in many constituencies," she added.
Gorodetskaya said that members of the delegation had adopted Abkhazia's experience and would use it in their country. She also thanked for the responsible attitude assumed by Abkhazian representatives during elections in Pridnestrovie.
Supreme Council member Alexander Korshunov noted that relations between the two states continue to develop, with 30 interstate agreements being signed as for today. He wished the people of Abkhazia to live in stability, peace and concord.
Adviser to Pridnestrovie's Supreme Council speaker Sergey Shirokov underscored that despite the distance, Pridnestrovie and Abkhazia are fraternal countries. On behalf of President Krasnoselsky, he invited Raul Khadzhimba to visit Pridnestrovie.
The head of Abkhazia thanked for the invitation, noting that Abkhazia will also be glad to receive Vadim Krasnoselsky. Later in the day, the Pridnestrovian delegation also met the deputy foreign minister of Abkhazia, Oleg Arshba, and the country's vice premier, Beslan Eshba.
