Russia to continue assisting Pridnestrovie in education development

Tiraspol, 6 March. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Ministry of Education marks its 26th anniversary today. The celebration was attended by distinguished guest, including Russia's ambassador to Moldova Farit Mukhametshin, prime minister Alexander Martynov, presidential adviser Anna Volkova, chairman of the parliamentary committee for education. science and culture Mikhail Burla, heads of education departments and members of Pridnestrovie's Union of Russian Communities.

The ministry's history dates back to 6 March 19991 when the Supreme Council of the PMSSR (Pridnestrovian Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic) adopted decree No. 27 establishing the Republican Department of Science, Public Education, Culture and Religion. The ministry assumed its present status on 25 July 2000.

«Throughout 26 years the structure of the executive body has changed several names, but one of its goals has remained unchanged — the development, education and upbringing of young Pridnestrovian citizens as persons of high moral standards. The country's civil society understands that it is the school that forms the way of thinking of the younger generation," said the education minister, Tatyana Loginova.

It is very symbolic that the Republican Department of Science, Public Education, Culture and Religion was the first executive agency established in Pridnestrovie, presidential adviser Anna Volkova believes.

«This is consistent with the aspirations of our people for knowledge, for everything that is good and kind," said Anna Vokova.

It was said at the meeting that the profession of a teacher is very important for society but, at the same time, very difficult and to a large extent underestimated. Teachers perform a very important mission, and the entire future of the republic depends on how well young Pridnestrovians will be taught.

«Thank you for your work, professionalism under very difficult circumstances — permanent underfunding in the education sector. This is not conducive to progressive advance, and we are certain to change this situation. Now we are developing a budget policy for the next three years, and we will very carefully consider spending on public education," Alexander Martynov promised.

From year to year, Russia provides great assistance to Pridnestrovie in the sphere of education. This includes textbooks, education curriculums, refresher courses for Pridnestrovian teachers, as well as the construction of education facilities by ANO Eurasian Integration.

But for this assistance, it would be very difficult for us," underscored Martynov and thanked Russia in the person of Farit Mukhametshin for this support.
The Russian ambassador, in turn, promised that this work would continue.

«I am very proud that I've had the honour to work here in the years when Pridnestrovie has been steadily developing, and today the new leadership has set broad objectives to coordinate work in many areas and seek the opportunities for the development of humanitarian sphere, including education," said Mukhametshin.

Today, the Ministry of Education of the PMR comprises 396 institutions attended by 90,000 people. Over 20,000 people, including more than 8,500 teachers, work in the education sector.
