Dubossary, 2 March. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. A mass rally commemorating the beginning of Pridnestrovie's resistance against the large-scale aggression of Moldova was held today at the Glory Memorial in Dubossary. The rally was attended by President Krasnoselsky, Chairman of the Government Alexander Martynov, Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Shcherba, representatives from Dubossary enterprises and NGOs, delegates from Bendery and Rybnitsa.

«2 March 1992 marks the beginning of the aggression, but it is on this day when Moldova became a UN member 25 years ago. Was it a coincidence — joining the UN and launching hostilities on the territory of Moldova? We will never forget the tragic events of those years. Russia came then to preserve peace on the Pridnestovian soil," said the president.
Vadim Krasnoselsky recalled that many Moldovan politicians are proposing today to disrupt the «5+2» format and establish posts at a Ukrainian customs point.

«I personally welcome Igor Dodon's thrust and desire to solve our economic and humanitarian problems. There are harsh and ambiguous statements made by other politicians. Therefore, I am deeply convinced that Moldova has first to solve the problems of its own citizens. Pridnestrovians want peace. I want the history of war to be over and peace to be restored in our country. In the meantime, it is necessary to remember the past, the people who gave their lives for Pridnestrovie.»

The heroic repulse of the military aggression in Dubossary will go down in the history of the Pridnestrovian people and the republic as a whole, Alexander Martynov believes.

«Hundreds of guardsmen, volunteers, militiamen defended our republic, secured peace, the right to speak our native tongues. Bendery and Dubossary are the cities that suffered the tragedy most of all. We cherish the memory of all deceased," he said.

The first Pridnestrovian president, Igor Smirnov, expressed gratitude to all defenders of Pridnestrovie for «having remained loyal to their country and their people». He recalled that people of 32 ethnicities live in the republic.

«Tanks to those who lie here, at the Glory memorial, the heroic city of Dubossary defended its right to live. Our task is to strengthen our statehood in spite of everything," said Igor Smirnov.
«At the Glory memorial lie the best of the best, our dearest fighting friends. Today, I want to tell the families and friends of the deceased that we will not break the oath to achieve the recognition of the PMR that we gave in the trenches, and never will enemies set foot on our land," said the chairman of the Dubossary Union of Pridnestrovie Defenders, Yury Shakuro.
The head of the Dubossary State Administration, Ruslan Chaban, called the city «the soul of Pridnestrovie».

«Recalling the 1992 events, we cannot forget the events of 2 November, 13 December 1991. It was not the accidental chain of events but the targetted attempts to break our republic apart. It is during this period when Dubossary became the bleeding wound of Pridnestrovie. The most courageous sons and daughters rose in defence of their native city, so did the residents of other cities and districts of the republic. Today the entire republic is with us. As 25 years ago, we have to unite and do our best to strengthen and develop our state," concluded Ruslan Chaban.
