Tiraspol, 30 January. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Supreme Council has hosted a meeting of the speaker of the Pridnestrovian parliament with a Russian delegation, led by the chairman of the State Duma committee for CIS affairs, Eurasian integration and relations with compatriots, Leonid Kalashnikov.
According to Kalashnikov, while it is his first visit to Pridnestrovie as an MP, he knows the problems faced by Pridnestrovian compatriots.
In particular, special attention during the meeting was paid to the simplification of the procedure of applying for Russian citizenship.
«We have raised the issue of citizenship for children born in the PMR after 1992. We have found understanding and support and will formulate our proposals which will be considered as a bill and — I hope — approved by the State Duma," said the speaker of the Supreme Council, Alexander Shcherba.
«It is necessary to specify a convenient form: an amendment or a draft law. It is necessary that we should not simply talk but could bring this issue to a logical conclusion," noted Kalashnikov.
The State Duma will hold hearings on 20 February on the problems of compatriots, to which representatives of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic have also been invited.
Parliamentarians also touched upon the issues of pensions, use of maternity capital in the PMR, as well as the allocation of higher education quotas for Pridnestrovian citizens.
«We have specific, applied issues related to our school-leavers being able to pass exams in the PMR following the Russian standards, the possibility of enforcing maternity capital, related to the provision of pensions," said Alexander Shcherba.
