Tiraspol, 27 January. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Problems of Pridnestrovian exports and the availability of the Russian market for Pridnestrovian products were discussed at a meeting that took place yesterday in Russia's Ministry of Industry and Trade. The meeting was attended by Russia's deputy minister Alexandr Potapov, Pridnestrovie's minister of economic development Sergey Obolonik and minister of industry and regional development Nikolay Gliga.
It was noted in particular that Pridnestrovie's budget deficit on social security items exceeds 600 million roubles; there is also a shortage of funds in the real sector of economy — the country's enterprises need about $60 million in medium-term credits.
«We have outlined the problems faced by Pridnestrovian exporters. We have continued and developed the issue of certification and accreditation on technical regulations, the accreditation of our Pridnestrovian labs so that all categories of exporters have access to the Russian market: from agriculture to instrument engineering, light industry and so on," said Sergey Obolonik.
According to him, the Russian side expressed willingness to cooperate. Moreover, a number of solutions facilitating export procedures were found in the course of the discussion. The sides also touched upon the lifting of protective measures against our manufacturers.
«The problem has been discussed; solutions have been found. Besides, we have considered deeper cooperation between our and Russian economic entities. We have problems in the public sector, where Russian potential may be used for common benefit. There are industrial sites where Russia can act as an investor," underscored the minister.
Measures worked out during the Moscow meetings will improve the country's investment climate. So, investments may be used, for instance, to develop our industry and agriculture.
«The most important thing is that there was direct contact, and the sides are poised for joint work, in other words, we can say that such an approach will certainly improve the state of affairs in exports to Russia. But our task is not only to lift restrictive barriers, but to increase exports in principle," said the minister.
«Our strategic aim is foreign trade relations with Russia, and in fulfilling this aim we want to increase the total volume of exports to Russia to such a large-scale level that would also benefit Russia, as well as include Pridnestrovie in the import substitution programme.
According to him, the application of the agreements in practice will have a positive impact on the country's economy as a whole.
