Tiraspol, 19 January. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. An OSCE delegation, led by Special Representative of the Austrian OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Wolf Dietrich Heim, is paying an introductory visit to Pridnestrovie.
Today, they held a meeting with the leadership of the Pridnestrovian parliament, including the chairman of the Supreme Council, Alexander Shcherba, the head of the commission for foreign policy and international relations, vice speaker Galina Antyfeyeva, her deputy, Viktor Guzun, the Supreme Council's press service reported.
«With all power structures formed, Pridnestrovie has finished the electoral cycle. The country is living amid new realities. The consolidation of power and society serves the preservation of peace, the establishment of good-neighbourly relations and realisation of the tasks set by our citizens," said Alexander Shcherba.
This year the OSCE, which is a mediator in the negotiations between Kishinev and Tiraspol, is presided by Austria. The representative of its foreign ministry is on his first visit to Tiraspol. In Tiraspol Wolf Dietrich Heim also met the president and the foreign minister.
During a conversation with MPs, the Austrian diplomat outlined the aim of his visit as to «cast a new glance at the situation». And the situation, according to Alexander Shcherba, requires «the negotiation process in the '5+2' format to be given a real meaning».
«This format must remain a venue for solving existing problems. First of all, this is caused by the need to create conditions for the free movement of people and goods, the development of entrepreneurial activities by Pridnestrovian economic entities, who are facing certain difficulties at the moment because of the activities of the Moldovan side… As for the political component, the vector of the development of our country was specified in the 2006 referendum. We defend the position of the Pridnestrovian people at the international level," said the speaker.
