Pridnestrovie plans to deliver electric power to Moldova without intermediaries

In the meantime, the intermediator firm will continue selling all foreign currency revenue to the PRB. The Supreme Council has passed a relevant law in two readings at once today

Tiraspol, December 28. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Electric power exporters will continue obligatorily selling all foreign currency revenue to the Pridnestrovian Republican Bank. The Supreme Council has passed the relevant legislative initiative of the Pridnestrovie's president Vadim Krasnoselsky in two readings at once today.

According to the PRB chairman Vladislav Tidva submitting the bill, it is necessary to continue this measure, because the electrical supply contract of the Energocapital being an intermediator between the Pridnestrovian electric power producer and its consumers in Moldova has legal force up to April, 2017.

It is a reminder that parliamentarians repeatedly emphasized earlier that currency crisis in Pridnestrovie was also caused by this intermediator firm which moved offshore about 20 million USD in 2015. The legislative norm concerning the obligatory 100% sale of the foreign currency revenue by exporters of the electric power to the PRB was adopted in 2016 in order to stop currency outflows.

«100% obligatory sale has given us an opportunity to replenish currency reserve of the PRB within a year, and as a result the domestic market has been filled with consumer goods, food, fuel and lubricants, first of all, but the most important is that the consumer price index has been under control," Vladislav Tidva noted.

Also during 2016, the MPs repeatedly emphasized the fact that because of unfairly low price of gas for the Energocapital this enterprise raked huge profits, as a result less income arrived in the special account of the PRB supplying the state budget deficiency.

So, this autumn Alexander Martynov being a chairman of the parliamentary Economic Policy Committee at the time has noted that due to the low gas price net profitability of equity of this firm reached 500%. Energocapital provides Moldavian State District Power Plant with natural gas as raw materials supplied by the customer; in return it gets the electric power and exports it to Moldova.

According to Vladislav Tidva, gas price will be increased for Energocapital in the nearest future, and all necessary measures are taken at the present so that after termination of the contract with the Energocapital electricity will be delivered to Moldova directly without intermediators.
