Tiraspol, 28 September. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Deputy Foreign Minister of the PMR Dmitry Palamarchuk met a delegation of the UN and Sweden's embassy to Moldova, the press service of the MFA reports. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Head of the Sweedish Embassy to Moldova Adam Amberg, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative for the Republic of Moldova Narine Sahakyan and representatives of other UN agencies. The Pridnestrovian side was represented by Minister of Social Security and Labour Yelena Kulichenko, First Depty Minister of Justice Nikolay Zemtsov, Deputy Minister of Interior Nikolay Pestov and head of the Centre for Prevention and Control of AIDS and Other Infectious Diseases Tatyana Alekseyenko.
During the meeting, the guests presented a new programme of cooperation with Pridnestrovie which provides for the implementation of projects in three areas: creation of conditions for the protection and development of people with disabilities, fight against the pandemic of HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis, assistance to women in crisis situations.
The programme is scheduled to run for two years and will be implemented by UN agencies with the financial support of the Swedish government and in close cooperation with relevant ministries and agencies of Pridnestrovie within the framework of the implementation of the recommendations by UN Chief Expert on Human Rights Thomas Hammarberg. The presented plan is based on the existing positive experience of cooperation with the UN and takes into account the needs and recommendations of the Pridnestrovian side.
Dmitry Palamarchuk underscored that the development of constructive, practical and benefit-oriented relations with international partners is one of the most important activities of Prodnestrovie's public authorities.
"We note with appreciation that the interaction with UN agencies, Swedish embassy and the Swedish International Development Agency is effective and deals with the most sensitive areas, focusses on people's needs and takes into account the recommendations of Pridnestrovie's authorities," said the diplomat.
In turn, Narine Sahakyan noted the positive effect of cooperation between UN agencies and Pridnestrovie.
"We remember many constructive meetings and discussions that have resulted in new ideas, and today we can talk about the positive results of these projects," said the UNDP deputy resident representative.
