Russian experts to restore Pridnestrovie's melioration

A group of experts from Kubanvodoproekt and Volgovodoproekt came to the republic to plan out required works on reconstruction of the Pridnestrovie's irrigating systems

Tiraspol, August 11. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The program on restoration of Pridnestrovie's melioration started on Thursday. It is scheduled to three years and will be implemented in three stages: design, reconstruction and restoration. As the Pridnestrovie's Agriculture and Environmental Resources Ministry reported, irrigating systems would be restored on 26 800 hectares. The program will be financed and supported by the Agriculture Ministry of the Russian Federation.

It's important to remind, agricultural departments of Russia and Pridnestrovie signed a cooperation agreement in 2014. One of the protocol paragraphs includes a purpose to renovate the Pridnestrovie's irrigating systems. Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Rogozin told about allocation of 2.4 billion Russian rubles on reconstruction of the Pridnestrovie's melioration during his last visit to the republic.

Experts from the Russian Volgovodproekt and Kubanvodoproekt companies invited for participation in the program by the Agriculture Ministry of the Russian Federation came to project construction works in Pridnestrovie. Both institutes founded in the middle of the 20th century have enormous experience in the field of melioration system development: now they project irrigational infrastructure across all Russia.

Representatives of these companies met with the authorities of the Pridnestrovie's Agriculture Ministry to work out a ground action plan.

«We will try to implement our knowledge and capabilities here, in Pridnestrovie. We will try to make your irrigating systems efficient," the Chief Technology Officer of the Kubanvodoproekt Anatoly Udalov told journalists.

«Decisions and the scope of financing will be determined following the results of these meetings," the Chief Technology Officer of the Volgovodproekt Vladimir Hmelev added.

As the Pridnsestrovie's Minister of Agriculture and Environmental Resources Svetlana Timotina explained, the program would include all irrigating facilities of the republic. Irrigation canals and household networks will be also restored. Besides, the program provides new irrigation equipment and installation of new power-intensive equipment at pump stations.
