President meets with head of the South Ossetian Embassy in Pridnestrovie

Tiraspol, August 8. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. President met with the head of the South Ossetian Embassy in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. On behalf of all Pridnestrovians, Yevgeny Shevchuk conveyed words of a condolence to Sergey Surago in connection with the eighth anniversary of Georgian military aggression against the Republic of South Ossetia.

The head of state emphasized that Pridnestrovians with deepest sorrow remember the events of August, 2008 and together with the people of South Ossetia hold the memory of the victims of the Georgian aggression. «Georgian attack on South Ossetia has resulted in a big tragedy, numerous victims. Accept sincere words of support from the Pridnestrovian people who have also seen the horrors of war in 1992, who know and appreciate peace. This day, we are in mourning together with fraternal people of South Ossetia who with honor and in arms defended the independence of their native land. I wish South Ossetia peace, and I hope to God that war flame would never scorch these beautiful lands!» — Yevgeny Shevchuk told.

As the Presidential Press Office reports, in turn the head of the South Ossetian Embassy in Pridnestrovie noted: «Military aggression of Georgia against South Ossetia code-named as Clear Field began in the early hours of August 8, 2008. Only thanks to the Russian Federation and the Russian soldier we succeeded to stop this aggression and to force Georgia to peace within five days».

Sergey Surago thanked the Pridnestrovian citizens for the support and the help in restoration of Tskhinvali.
