Tiraspol, 27 June. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. All sources of customs payments to the coffers are under special control of the SCC's leadership, the committee's press service reports. Each of them is constantly monitored and analysed.
Among these sources are customs duties on the clearance of imported vehicles. Pursuant to the current law, 50% of this money goes to the country's consolidated budget and the same amount is allocated to Pridnestrovie's Road Fund with the subsequent distribution.
In May 2016 amendments extending the maximum age of vehicles imported and exploited in Pridnestrovie from 10 to 15 years were made to the law «On customs tariff» at the instance of Supreme Council members. According to the authors of the amendments, they were supposed to boost car imports, thus increasing budget revenues.
According to customs statistics, however, there were no expected positive changes as far as it concerns the consolidated budget's revenues. Since the amendments had come into effect, 163 vehicles were imported to Pridnestrovie, which is 38% less than in the same period of 2015. Cars with the exploitation period of 10 -15 years made up 36% of the total number of imported vehicles. The amount of customs duties also dropped by 45% as compared with the same period of 2015.
«This means less money will be allocated to the budget's social protection items, local budgets will fall short of the anticipated amount of subsidies for financing road infrastructure development programmes," says the State Customs Committee.
With Pridnestrovie's foreign turnover reduced by a quarter, the SCC notes the increased risks, as compared with 2015, of a budget shortfall in customs payments. «In the meantime, the customs authorities are making efforts to meet the planned figures, despite the fact that part of them were deliberately overstated by the Supreme Council when drafting the 2016 budget parameters," the SCC's press service reports.
