Tiraspol, 21 June. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Moldovan media is speaking about Kishinev's diplomatic fiasco. Newsmaker published an article last Friday explaining why Moldova found itself in isolation at the renewed 5+2 talks and Russia's proposals to ameliorate relations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova were even supported by such Russia's opponents on «The Big Chessboard» as Germany and the USA.
Newsmaker commentator Eugen Șolari notes that Moldova has chiefly tried so far to avoid or sabotage any substantive negotiations, declining all proposals on even a slightest compromise. «The tactics of forcing Tiraspol into Moldova's economic, social and legal space (known in Kishinev as «common spaces») employed stage by stage in the past two years apparently suits the Moldovan side. Taking such measures does not require after all any functional negotiation mechanisms. To some extent, they may be even an obstacle at this stage," writes the author.
The problem, however, is that Russia, the EU, USA and the OSCE, chaired by Germany, are the mediators and observers in the negotiation process and not the vassals of Kishinev, trying to capture, if not at a go, then at least by starvation, rebellious Tiraspol.
The Moldovan negotiators' refusal to admit the fact that the mediators and observers do not intend to publicly serve as Kishinev's private army has resulted in a well prepared information campaign within which a whole number of experts started almost simultaneously arguing how «ugly» it was on the part of the international mediators to use «dirty mechanisms» to force Mr Bălan, also known as Mister No, to do at the negotiating table that what everyone had come to Berlin for — seeking a solution to pressing socio-economic problems in relations between the sides.
Official Kishinev itself, by the way, in the person of its negotiator Gheorghe Bălan, did not demonstrate in any way its disappointment at the US and Germany's position: warriors do not complain. But the information that the international observers really got tired of Moldova trying to avoid in every way a normal dialogue is also confirmed by both Novosti Pridnestrovya's own sources and logical laws — it is simply impossible to play «imitation» games to the end of time.
The Newsmaker observer poses a question at the end of his article if such unanimity of the sides belonging to opposing geopolitical camps, different civilisation spaces may show that Moldova is doing something wrong. The author reckons that «if Kishinev is not ready to make concessions even on such simple issues as the problem of recognising education certificates, re-establishing telephone communication» and «appearance of Pridnestrovie's licence plates», prospects for a more serious, balanced and substantial and, what is more, civilised dialogue on political issues seem almost implausible.
And he is almost immediately answered that it is the only right line of actions because, as it tuned out, it is Moldova that is put pressure on. Such arguments emerged in social media following the publication of the cited material and prompted the author to write a continuation to this story (published by Newsmaker yesterday).
Its essence can be briefed as follows: these abstract «they», from Moldova's point of view, are really to blame if Moldova is aiming to subjugate by all means and methods the territory of Pridnestrovie. The people living in the PMR, the inconvenience and harm such actions do to them are not taken into account.
«While publicly declaring the second model, in practice Kishinev is implementing the first one (the first model is to make the livelihood of Pridnestrovie's residents and businesses unbearable and make them «surrender»). At some moment, the diplomacy failed, which became evident for all negotiation participants," writes Șolari.
The time has come, in fact, when the soundness of Pridnestrovie's position that negotiations are incompatible with blackmail, sanctions, blockade and restrictions is clear to all the international partners.
