Yevgeny Shevchuk about ruble exchange rate: Nothing is as easy as it looks

The Head of state considers that unfair politicians mastermind exaggeration of the situation with the Pridnestrovie's national currency

Tiraspol, June 15. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Pridnestrovie's ruble exchange rate was one of the topics in conversation between the Pridnestrovie's President Yevgeny Shevchuk and the correspondent of the Russian Arguments and Facts Newspaper. The Head of state reminded that throughout the previous 4 years the Pridnestrovie's national currency had been stable unlike leu and hryvnia. However, at that moment the ruble was supported from the resources which are absent now.

«If they diminish now, then it is necessary to compromise, but not to destabilize the situation. Economy develops according to the certain laws. If you have deficit of something and come short of any resource, then the black market appears. We see that today the official ruble exchange rate drastically differs from the unofficial one. We see that there's a lack of balance which have resulted in these discrepancies," Yevgeny Shevchuk told and noted that there is still no objective solution for the issue.

«We have been going around in circles in search of solution for this situation for two months. Very fierce debates on the Pridnestrovian Republican Bank, on the President and on all state authorities…» he added.

According to the President, the exchange rate situation is escalated deliberately. Despite the existing realities, the solution is not searched, but the situation is exploited for own the political goals.

«It's no accident that just before the presidential elections a number of political actors try to exploit this situation for own goals declaring that those who support devaluation are against the people, and those who advocates for firm ruble exchange rate are for the people. But nothing is as easy as it looks. Although, of course, this exchange rate situation maintans high tension among the population," Yevgeny Shevchuk summed up.
