Tiraspol, 15 June. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. President Yevgeny Shevchuk met a delegation of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly's (OSCE PA) group for Moldova, led by its chair, Arta Dade. Participants exchanged views on issues related to the negotiation format in the 5+2 format. The meeting was also attended by the acting foreign minister, Vitaly Ignatyev, the president's press service reports.
On greeting the delegation, the president emphasised Pridnestrovie's interest in enhancing and developing cooperation with OSCE structures. «This organisation is an important co-mediator in the negotiation process and assists in conducting the negotiations. We advocate the use of any instruments which would allow us to secure the achievement of mutually beneficial agreements for both Pridnestrovie and Moldova," said Yevgeny Shevchuk. This refers to such areas as the refusal of politically motivated criminal charges, freedom of movement of citizens and cargoes, economic development.
«We have reaffirmed our priorities which consist in seeking mutually beneficial solutions at the negotiating table. We have also reaffirmed our interest in further implementing the peacekeeping operation as one of the most important instruments of preserving peace," said Yevgeny Shevchuk following the meeting.
Arta Dade, in turn, welcomed the resumption of the 5+2 talks. «We welcome the negotiations in the 5+2 format. We hope that the negotiations will yield fruit," said Arta Dade. «Besides, we as parliamentarians would like to see cooperation between the two legislatures. That's the goal of our coming here.
In conclusion, the president expressed hope that OSCE co-mediators will continue assisting the sides in seeking constructive and mutually beneficial solutions. «We are ready to negotiate and hope to find solutions to the issues on the agenda," said Yevgeny Shevchuk.
