Tiraspol, 13 June. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Supreme Council has considered a draft law aimed at preventing drug and psychoactive substance abuse.
The bill provides for the social and psychological testing of students at educational institutions, as well as medical inspections of students aimed at the early detection of drug and psychoactive substance abuse.
«The early detection of drug and psychoactive substance abuse can be conducted with the written consent of a parent (or its statutory representative) of students under 15, or students themselves (upon attaining this age). If social and psychological tests and/or medical inspection reveal drug and psychoactive substance abuse by the student, he shall be sent to a special organisation (or it structural unit) providing drug dependency treatment. This requires the written consent of the student (his statutory representative). The procedure is established by health care authorities in coordination with education authorities," reads the explanatory note to the draft law.
The draft law has been unanimously approved on first reading.
