Tiraspol, 13 June. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. In January, a unique project uniting young and accomplished singers from various countries was launched in Moscow. The Music of Friendship festival was supposed to provide a series of masterclasses in Russian classical vocal music. Ahead of Russia Day, contest laureates and participants arrived in Pridnestrovie to give a concert.
Russian classical music was performed at the stage of the Place of Republic by opera singers from Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Moldova and Pridnestrovie.
«The concert was organised thanks to Russia's embassy to Moldova, thanks to the interest taken by the PMR's leadership in this project, to our young singers," said the executive director of the international festival, Yelena Yezerskaya.
The project of the contest festival has won the Russian president's grant to enable young gifted vocalists to discover the big stage along with renowned masters of classical vocal.
«We have also included masterclasses in this contest festival. If we look at the history, we see that the musical culture of all Soviet republics, which are now independent states, appeared and began to develop on the basis of Russian musical culture," said the president of the contest festival's jury, People's Artist of the USSR Vladislav Piavko.
It was the first time festival performers and organisers visited Pridnestrovie. «[There is] such unity both in architecture and in atmosphere and in people that you feel at home," Yelena Yezerskaya described her feelings.
The concert was concluded by the Pridnestrovian State Symphony Orchestra's performance of works by Russian composer Peter Tchaikovsky.
