Tiraspol and Novosibirsk may become twin cities

On Friday s Novosibirsk delegation will come to the capital of Pridnestrovie

Tiraspol, 6 June. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Traspol and Novosibirsk may become twin cities. This news was announced by the head of the capital's administration, Andrey Bezbabchenko, at an operational meeting. According to him, as early as this Friday a Novosibirsk delegation, led by the mayor of the Russian city, Anatoly Lokot, will arrive in Tiraspol.

The delegation will stay in the Pridnestrovian capital for three days, during which Novosibirsk's leadership will get acquainted with the city and communicate with its residents. «We are likely to sign, or at least we are planning to sign a town twinning protocol with Novosibirsk," noted Andrey Bezbabchenko.

Tiraspol and Novosibirsk will finally become twin cities after Tiraspol's leadership pays a return visit on 22 June to Novosibirsk where the agreement will be signed.

Novosibirsk (Novonikolayevsk before 1925) is a Russian city, the administrative centre of Novosibirsk Oblast as well as of the Siberian Federal District. It is a big scientific, cultural, industrial, transport and business centre. It is 3,303 km away from Moscow.

Novosibirsk is the third most populous city in Russia after Moscow and St. Petersburg, with a population of 1,473,754 as of the 2010 Census. It is also the biggest municipality in Russia, occupying an area of 503.1 sq km (193.9 sq mi).
