President: We hope that Ukraine will be more realistic in approach to the situation soon

Yevgeny Shevchuk told it in interview to the Express Newspaper

Tiraspol, May 11. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Commenting on the relations between Pridnestrovie and the neighboring Ukraine in interview to the special correspondent of the Express Newspaper, the Pridnestrovie's President Yevgeny Shevchuk expressed hope that the period of tensions would pass.

«After the Maidan, Ukraine uses other rhetoric against Pridnestrovie. Sometimes it was threatening. Petro Poroshenko declared during his visit to Romania in 2015 that it was needed to unfreeze the Pridnestrovian conflict. The Ukrainian mass media disseminated the information that the Pridnestrovie's army was going to attack their country. Pridnestrovians are supersensitive to such provocations because at the same time trenches were digged along our border, additional forces were concentrated. Ukraine has imposed movement restrictions for the Russian men through the Pridnestrovian-Ukrainian border," the Head of state reminded.

According to him, everything is difficult in the Pridnestrovian-Ukrainian relations today.

«Ukraine is the guarantor state in the Pridnestrovian issue, but at the same time it takes part in blockade against our republic together with Moldova. Our diplomats also aren't allowed to enter to its territory. We hope that Ukraine will be more realistic in approach to the situation in near future," Yevgeny Shevchuk concluded.
