Stockholm School of Economics in Riga interested in students’ exchange with PSU

The leadership of Pridnestrovian State University has held a meeting with Sweden's ambassador to Moldova, Signe Burgstaller

Tiraspol, 21 April. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Today, the conference hall of Pridnestrovian State University (PSU) has hosted a meeting between the university's leadership and Sweden's ambassador to Moldova, Signe Burgstaller.

At the start of the meeting, the rector of PSU, Galina Sandutsa, noted that the university has long been corroborating with the Swedish embassy to Moldova and is doing its best to further promote bilateral ties.

The first issue the ambassador took interest in is the university's attitude towards the non-recognition of its diplomas. According to the rector, PSU discusses this problem with Moldovan experts within a working group. The main problem, according to PSU's leadership, is that the university is proposed to represent Moldova when cooperating with any foreign partners, but this is inadmissible in terms of state policy. To exclude political issues, the university tries to establish direct bilateral contacts with various educational institutions, including from Europe.

In the course of the dialogue, Signe Burgstaller told about her recent meeting with the rector of Stockholm School of Economics in Riga, Anders Paalzow, who told her about a cooperation agreement between SSE and Shevchenko PSU. Anders Paalzow had expressed willingness to infuse new energy into this agreement and develop cooperation. The head of SSE had showed particular interest in students' exchange programmes.

The PSU rector replied that the university has a considerable experience in various cooperation with foreign partner universities, adding that PSU would gladly get in touch with Anders Paalzow and discuss the possibility of further cooperation.

Galina Sandutsa also invited Signe Burgstaller to meet PSU students and deliver a lecture to them. The Swedish ambassador said she is ready for such collaboration.

Following the meeting, embassy officials visited PSU's linguistic cultural centres and held a working meeting with the vice rector on international cooperation, Vlada Lysenko.
