Vitlay Ignatyev briefs president on results of his working visit to Moscow

Tiraspol, 19 April. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Preisdent Yevgeny Shevchuk received the acting foreign minister of the PMR. Vitlay Ignatyev briefed the president on the results of his working visit to Moscow, the president's press service reports.

During the official visit to Moscow the minister held a number of meetings at Russia's ministry of foreign affairs, presidential administration and government.

Vitaly Ignatyev met a deputy foreign minister, State Secretary Grigory Karasin, Ambassador at Large Sergey Gubarev, as well as Dmitry Loskutov, an aide to Russia's deputy prime minister and the president's special envoy on Pridnestrovie, Dmitry Rogozin. He also met the director of the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies, Leonid Reshetnikov.

In addition, within the framework of signing a cooperation memorandum between the Federal Customs Service of Russia and the State Customs Committee of the PMR Vitaly Ignatyev held a meeting with Russia's customs service chief, Andrey Belyaninov. This instrument is a real action plan aimed at creating additional mechanisms of increasing supplies of Pridnestrovian goods to the Russian market.

The programme of the visit was very rich and dealt with a broad range of issues. The central topics on the agenda were the current situation in the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and Moldova as well as prospects for a dialogue in the international 5+2 format. «We focussed on the unilateral actions, restrictive measures and pressure imposed on Pridnestrovie by Moldova, including with Ukraine's support. Our Russian partners back our conviction that any unilateral actions deteriorating the life of Pridnestrovian citizens are inadmissible," noted the acting foreign minister. «We'll work in this vein and try to employ negotiation mechanisms so that our Moldovan could work proceeding from a reasonable paradigm.»

The president instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR to intensify the process of solving the problem of politically motivated criminal charges brought by Moldova against Pridnestrovie's officials, entrepreneurs and ordinary citizens, as well as lifting restrictions in the sphere of motor and railway transport. The head of state set a task to analyse the possible consequences of a unilateral decision made by Moldova and Ukraine to establish joint border and customs control at the Kuchurgan checkpoint on the border with the PMR.

Vitaly Ignatyev informed the president that in the course of the visit specific aspects of bilateral cooperation were discussed with Russian colleagues. This particularly referred to the intensification of cooperation between the two countries in the economic, humanitarian and education spheres.
