Tiraspol, 17 April. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Russia's State Duma deputies have welcomed the establishment of the republican union of Pridnestrovie's people's deputies «For Unity with Russia».
In his statement the first deputy chairperson of the State Duma, Ivan Melnikov, noted that «such unions always appear for good reason».
«This is the undoubted and consistent demand and desire of Pridnestrovian citizens. I have carefully read the declaration. It seems to be deliberate, clear and unbiased. The prerequisites for this union and its goals are articulated so correctly that it can't but produce the most positive attitude on the part of Russian parliamentarians," he said.
The key aspect mentioned in the declaration is the harmonisation of the Pridnestrovian laws with Russia's legislation, according to Ivan Melnikov. «I believe the implementation of this provision will help to realise the goals this declaration sets," underscored the vice speaker.
«We are interested in Pridnestrovian goods, both agricultural and industrial, being supplied to Russia; in restoring cooperation, uniting our industrial systems. Therefore, the union of municipal and parliamentary deputies in this group is a right thing to do," says Sergey Gavrilov, chair of the State Duma's group on cooperation with Pridnestrovie.
The will and desire of the Pridnestrovian people not only to live at peace with their neighbours, but also to live in brotherly economic, cultural, spiritual, social relations with Russia is a law for us," he concluded.
The leader of the Communist's faction, Gennady Zyuganov, highlighted the relevance of this union. «Together and united, we'll be able to realise the main idea that only in the union of brother nations can we escape this difficult financial, economic and social crisis," believes Gennady Zyuganov.
«We are calling upon the ministry of foreign affairs and the president's administration to take more active steps to support such initiatives and we can say loudly and boldly that we are with our friends, we back those who aspiring for Russia. We do not just support such aspirations — we want them finally come true," said Valdimir Kashin, chair of the State Duma committee on natural resources and ecology.
Yesterday, the constituent congress of the union of Pridnestrovie's people's deputies «For Unity with Russia» took place in Tiraspol. The founding declaration has been signed to date by 648 people's deputies at all levels. The main objective of the union is the implementation of the 2006 referendum results where over 97% of the country's residents voted for the PMR's independence with its subsequent accession to the Russian Federation. Among other priorities are the support for the current peacekeeping format, the harmonisation of the Pridnestrovian laws with Russia's legislation, the comprehensive integration of Pridnestrovie's economy into the Customs and Eurasian Economic Unions.
