Tiraspol, 12 April. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. President Shevchuk has visited Dubossary today to congratulate its residents on the Day of Liberation form the Nazi invaders and personally meet Great Patriotic War veterans. He has also held a reception of citizens on personal matters and met representatives of public organisations.
After this meeting, which took longer than 3 hours, journalists asked the president to comment on statements made at yesterday's Supreme Council session.
«Any statements will be given due attention by supervising and law enforcement agencies. I want to say that some arguments voiced yesterday are being checked and have already been checked. Today additional checks have been initiated by almost all law enforcers, including the Committee for State Security and the Investigation Committee. Similar instructions were earlier given to the prosecutor's office, and the Accounts Chamber is also working on it.
As for the statements, they are a downright lie which I can estimate as a transition of some politicians to an active pre-electoral stage or a launch of a presidential campaign. I think people understand it. However, I'd like to note: elections are elections, but, I think, methods employed in the course of a campaign must proceed from objective and real facts. Most of this information is far from being true. That's why unfounded accusations are just a demonstration of certain approaches aimed to destabilise the country's situation. The Presidential Administration and appropriate authorities will provide in due time a full volume of information on the mentioned facts after checks are over," underscored Yevgeny Shevchuk.
Journalists also asked the president about prospects for the repayment of salary debts to public sector employees.
«The repayment of debts lies within the government's jurisdiction. As far as I know, they had to enter into negotiations with creditors. The main task for both the president and the government is to find internal and external resources to repay the 2015 debts as soon as possible. We are planning to do it in April-May. Be it full or partial repayment depends on the terms stipulated in a loan agreement: a loan offer presupposes the redemption date and loan terms. The government is also seeking out opportunities of taking up external loans.
There are still speculations about the payment of salaries and pensions in 2015. Only real and objective situation should be taken into account. I want to remind you that the 2015 budget had an unsecured deficit of 550 million roubles. This refers to the republican budget and pension fund. And it was impossible to pay salaries in full volume when the money was not included into the budget, and there were no funding sources due to shortfalls of tax revenues. This is testified by corresponding figures. I relate further speculations in this regard to certain political processes as well. On the one hand, the parliamentary elections are over, and on the other hand, a presidential campaign started at once.
It is not so important for people to discuss the issues they have long known — it is important who proposes and what is proposed to solve every individual problem. It was evident back in 2015 that revenues were falling and there was no money in the budget. Proposals should have been put forward in 2015 as to where to seek out a funding source to secure salary payments. I suppose, it would have been more constructive and sufficient. And now this issue has to be dealt with in 2016. I hope the republican budget will be approved soon, and we'll learn what will be funded in 2016 and in which volume," said the president.
