Tiraspol, 4 April. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Preidnestrovie as an outpost of the Russian world and Eurasian cultural space is an obstacle for the expansion of Western ideology, a notorious Russian political scientist, Alexander Dugin, told Pridnestrovian students, teachers and MFA employees during a webinar held at PSU. The internet teleconference was organised by the Dniester-Prut Centre of the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies (RISS DPC) as part of cooperation programme between the RISS DPC and PSU.
The founder of Neo-Eurasianism delivered a short lecture whose subject «American ideology and the US's pretensions for global dominance» has been studied by Alexander Dugin for years.
The essence of Dugin's ideas is as follows. International relations are not defined by politics and economics only, but also by ideology, which forms a global vision system. According to the political scientist, the essence of ideology lies in its superior position to sound pragmatics and its usage of dogmas, whereupon it is somewhat immune to any outer arguments.
Alexander Dugin believes that the contemporary world is under strong influence of Western liberal ideology imposed by the world's most powerful nation — the USA. The alternative ideologies, communism and fascism, withstanding Western liberalism in the 20 c., have turned unlivable, according to him.
After 1991, the US appeared the only state that could afford to use coercion instruments in international relations. This has predetermined the US's aspiration for global dominance. At the same time, Dugin thinks, this country considers itself messianic — the transmitter of the most progressive human achievements, and the US uses this idea to justify its expansion based on the principle «what we are allowed to do, nobody else is».
Therefore, Alexander Dugin sums up, politics and economics today are ideological instruments defining the principles of international relations.
Dugin notes in this regard that states resisting the US's expansion (Russia in particular) must have a powerful ideological system which is alternative to Western liberalism. The political scientist is sure that this ideology is being formed now in the Eurasian space, which also includes Pridnestrovie. He also says that the PMR's political status is seen to a large extent not only in terms of geopolitics, but also through the prism of ideology.
«The US recognises the political status of those subscribing to its ideology. And Pridnestrovie is an obstacle, as far as ideology is concerned, because deems itself Russia's outpost. For the West, Pridnestrovie is a nonsense, a sign that does not fit in its reference system.
According to him, Pridnestrovian and Russian think tanks must work in close cooperation to develop an alternative ideological space.
