President meets Ministry of Internal Affairs leadership

Personnel and financial provision issues were discussed at the meeting

Tiraspol, 2 March. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. President Yevgeny Shevchuk held a meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the presidential press service reports. The internal affairs minister, Stanislav Romanyuk, state during the meeting that there is an acute personnel shortage in some units if the ministry. In particular, there is a considerable personnel deficit in Bendery's internal affairs department, as well as in Tiraspol's criminal investigation department.

Besides, Stanislav Romanyuk highlighted the insufficiency of financial provision for employees, including the ministry's operative services. «These are acute issues, especially when the budget law is not approved," noted the minister.

The president gave a number of instructions to the ministry leadership. Among them is the need to man the ministry's operative units to the established strength, to enhance the efficiency of investigative activities with regard to the exposure of grave and very grave crimes, as well as economic crimes.

The president specially emphasised the importance of strengthening control over the movement of Ukrainian and Moldovan citizens in Pridnestrovie. He noted that in connection with the ongoing socio-economic unrest in Ukraine and Moldova there remain risks of persons with criminal intent penetrating into the PMR. «We must focus on additional migration filters to prevent a crime wave caused by foreign visitors," said Yevgeny Shevchuk.
